NEW Hyaluronidase 1500 IU Compare to Vitrase, The Mistake Corrector (Only one vial)

Sometimes facial dermal fillers do not provide the desired results, due to the lack of doctors’ expertise injecting, the type of dermal filler used, the skin type, or the area that was treated. A remedy of these injection mistakes is Vitrase, a brand of hyaluronidase. Vitrase can be injected into the previous dermal filler sites, to disperse the unwanted filler injections, helping to return your face to its previous look. Vitrase does not work well with all dermal fillers, but it is an option for some products used.

Hyaluronidase is a natural substance found within the body. Hyaluronan is changed chemically, forming hyaluronidase, to lower the viscosity or resistance in order to increase tissue permeability. It is used with dermal fillers, to disperse the injected filler into the tissue, returning the injected area to its previous state. Hyaluronidase is also used to speed the dispersion of anesthetics used for surgeries, and to make contrast dyes more visible for x-rays or scans prior to surgery.

There are currently four brand names for hyaluronidase. Hydase, Vitrase, and Amphadase are animal-derived hyaluronidase, and Hylenex is a synthetic human derived formula. Vitrase is made by ISTA Pharmaceuticals, and is the first and only pure, preservative-free thimerosal-free (mercury-free), ovine-derived (sheep-derived) hyaluronidase. It is approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use in the United States, and is highly purified, but because it is animal-derived, an allergy skin pre-test is required for use.

Vitrase is known as “the mistake corrector”, and may be injected to treat lumpy, dermal filler injection areas. It may also help to correct overfilling, asymmetry, or improper injections. Vitrase seems to work well with Restylane, Juvederm, and Perlane injections. It may also work adequately with Prevelle Silk, and Juvederm Ultra Plus. It is not recommended for use with Cosmoderm, Cosmoplast, Or Radiesse dermal injections.

Injection Procedure
Injections of Vitrase are very similar to the previous dermal fillers in which you wish to correct. The face will be cleansed and will be scored or marked for injection sites, and a topical anesthetic may be used to dull the injection pain. Vitrase effects should be noticeable within 24-48 hours in most cases, and there should be little if any downtime. Common side effects are similar to the initial dermal injections, such as redness, pain, swelling, and itching of the injection site.

Vitrase Use Warnings
It is extremely important that your doctor is experienced with hyaluronidase injections. He or she should also know of your medical history, and any medications that you are currently taking. Unexpected sensitivity can be a very significant problem, therefore a skin allergy test is required before Vitrase injections are administered. You should not receive Vitrase if you are using:

  • Furosemide (Lasix)
  • Phenytoin (Dilantin)
  • Valium, Xanax, Tranxene – or other sedatives
  • Aspirin or salicylates
  • Cortisone or ACTH (Corticotropin)
  • Estrogens

Antihistamines – or other cold or allergy medications
You should not have Vitrase injections if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you have open sores, bites, stings, facial inflammation, infection, or swelling, Vitrase should not be injected, due to the possibility of spreading infection. It is recommended that the facial condition be cleared and healed before using Vitrase injections. After Vitrase injections are administered, it is advised that you do not have other dermal filler injections for at least one week, possibly more, so that your face has proper time to recover. Common side effects may occur, but if you develop hives, swelling of the tongue, face, lips or throat, and have difficulty breathing, chest tightness, accelerated heart beat, or dizziness, you should seek medical attention immediately. These are signs of an allergic reaction, and you will require immediate treatment. Discussing medical history, medications that you are taking, and pre-testing for allergic reaction are all necessary precautions that are imperative in order to prevent allergic reactions from occurring.
